Cyprus Betting Revenue Jumps to €298 Million as Online Betting Surges

National Betting Authority reports strong gains in online betting.

The dynamics of the betting market are confirmed by the financial results for the second quarter of 2025, the National Betting Authority (NBA) announced this week.

According to the data, for the period April–June 2025, there was a 4% increase in the gross revenue of Class A (land-based betting) and Class B (online betting) operators, reaching €298,086,561, compared with the corresponding period of 2024 (€287,889,316).

Compared with Q2 2023 (€256,546,057), the increase reaches 16%.

Specifically, of the Q2 2025 gross revenue:
€73,911,240 came from Class A operators
€224,175,321 came from Class B operators

Gross revenue for Class A recorded a 3% decrease compared with the same quarter of 2024 but rose 3% compared with 2023.

In contrast, gross revenue for Class B operators increased 6% compared with the corresponding quarter of 2024 and 21% compared with 2023.

During Q2 2025, player winnings from Class A and B operators amounted to €260,140,774, marking a 5% increase compared with the same quarter of the previous year and 14% compared with 2023.

The largest share of winnings, totalling €200,415,708, concerned Class B players.

Total betting receipts for Class A and B during Q2 2025 reached €37,945,787, showing a 3% decrease compared with Q2 2024 (€39,227,105).

More specifically, Class A betting receipts amounted to €14,186,174, down 9%, while Class B receipts reached €23,759,613, an increase of 1% compared with the same period last year.

Regarding the number of Class A premises, a 3% decrease was recorded compared with Q2 2024, with 460 licensed premises operating island-wide.

Of these, 163 are in Nicosia, 130 in Limassol, 84 in Larnaca, 48 in Paphos and 35 in Famagusta.

Staff employed at licensed premises stood at 1,436, a 2% decrease compared with the same quarter of the previous year.

A notable 79% decrease was recorded in licence cancellations and withdrawals during Q2 2025 compared with Q2 2024.

Additionally, the National Betting Authority continues its efforts to block illegal betting websites.

In Q2 2025, the relevant blacklist included 21,633 websites, with 322 new entries and a 6% increase compared with the same period in 2024.
