Cyprus Energy Minister Attends the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference
WTO Members Will Aim to Make Progress in the Organization’s Reform Tasks
Cyprus's Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, George Papanastasiou, is currently in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, representing Cyprus at the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), held from February 26th to 29th.
An official statement notes that during the Ministerial Conference, WTO members will aim to make progress in the organization's reform tasks and continue negotiations on critical issues such as fisheries subsidies, agriculture, and e-commerce.
The reform of the WTO is deemed essential for a stable and predictable trading system based on rules, functioning as a bulwark against an increasingly unpredictable global economic environment, as stated in the announcement.
On the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference, Mr. Papanastasiou also participated in the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council (Trade), which took place in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, February 25th, as noted.
