Cyprus Unveils New Electric Vehicle Subsidies: Grants Up to €20,000 Now Available
Road Transport Department Announces 97 Grants for Electric Cars and 18 for Motorcycles Under Reallocated EV Incentive Scheme
The Road Transport Department (RTD) has announced the categories of subsidies under the electric mobility scheme, following the Cabinet’s approval of the incentive plan and the reallocation of funding from the third call of Cyprus’ Electric Mobility Promotion Plan. A total of 97 grants for vehicles and 18 for motorcycles will be made available.

According to the RTD, the third call of the Electric Mobility Promotion Plan, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, will provide subsidies totaling €1,165,000 across seven vehicle categories:

Plug-in Hybrid (Saloon Replacement): For private use plug-in hybrid vehicles (CO2 emissions up to 50 g/km), replacing a scrapped saloon with a new one. Max purchase price: €80,000. Grant: €7,500. Total available: €75,000.

Plug-in Hybrid (Disabled Persons): For individuals with disabilities replacing a scrapped vehicle. Max purchase price: €80,000. Grant: €15,000. Total available: €75,000.

Plug-in Hybrid (Large Families): For large families replacing a scrapped vehicle. Max purchase price: €80,000. Grant: €15,000. Total available: €75,000.

Zero-Emission Vehicle (Saloon): For private use, new zero-emission vehicles. Max purchase price: €80,000. Grant: €9,000. Total available: €513,000.

Zero-Emission Vehicle (Disabled Persons): New vehicle for individuals with disabilities. Max purchase price: €80,000. Grant: €20,000. Total available: €200,000.

Zero-Emission Vehicle (Large Families): For large families purchasing a zero-emission vehicle. Max purchase price: €80,000. Grant: €20,000. Total available: €200,000.

Electric Motorcycles (Category L): Excludes L6e (“B” subcategory) and L7e (“B and C” subcategories). Grant: €1,500. Total available: €27,000.
These grants were originally approved under the third call of the scheme but remained unclaimed due to deadline expirations or beneficiary cancellations. The same terms and conditions from the third call apply, including the requirement to register the vehicle/motorcycle by December 31, 2025.

The grants will become available via the scheme’s online portal on Monday, June 30, 2025. Further information will be provided on the RTD's official website.
Citizens who placed orders after the previous round of subsidies on April 23, 2025, may also apply, provided registration is completed by December 31, 2025.
Once the 97 vehicle and 18 motorcycle grants are exhausted, a new subsidy scheme funded by state resources will be launched, offering 260 new grants with a total budget of €2.5 million. Categories and grants under this new scheme include:

Plug-in Hybrid (Saloon Replacement): Grant: €7,500. Max purchase price: €80,000. Total funding: €300,000.

Zero-Emission Vehicle (Saloon): Grant: €9,000. Max purchase price: €80,000. Total funding: €1,350,000.

Zero-Emission Vehicle (Disabled Persons): Grant: €20,000. Max purchase price: €80,000. Total funding: €200,000.

Zero-Emission Vehicle (Large Families): Grant: €20,000. Max purchase price: €80,000. Total funding: €200,000.

Used Zero-Emission Vehicle (Saloon): Grant: €9,000. Max purchase price: €35,000. Total funding: €450,000.
The start date and specific terms of the new scheme will be announced once the current round of grants is fully allocated. The RTD reserves the right to adjust category availability based on demand.
Vehicle registration for this scheme must be completed by October 31, 2025, in order to ensure all grants are processed by December 31, 2025.
Citizens who ordered vehicles after the previous scheme ended are also eligible, provided registration is completed by October 31, 2025.
