Cyprus Registers Its First Three Social Enterprises
The Registrar of Social Enterprises Officially Opens the Registry With Two General-Purpose Ventures and One Integration-Focused Business.
The first three social enterprises have been officially registered in the Registry of Social Enterprises, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Social Enterprises announced.
In a statement from the Registrar, who serves as the competent authority for Social Enterprises, it was noted that these first three entities were formally entered into the Registry on April 21, 2026.
According to the information published in the Registry, two of the businesses are classified as "general purpose," while the third is an "integration enterprise." The latter is designed to employ vulnerable groups, requiring that at least 40% of its workforce consists of individuals from these categories.
The new National Registry has its first three members, and they are tackling some of our society’s most important challenges:
- Elderly Care: A general-purpose enterprise dedicated to supporting our seniors.
- Hydroponic Farming: Innovation meets sustainability in local vegetable production.
- Inclusive Employment: A café integration project providing meaningful jobs for individuals on the autism spectrum.
This is a huge step toward an economy that prioritizes people alongside progress!
