AEGEAN and Hermes Airports Launch Direct Larnaca–Brussels Flight
The new route strengthens Cyprus’s connectivity with Europe ahead of the island’s EU Council Presidency in 2026.
On December 1, 2025, AEGEAN Airlines and Hermes Airports inaugurated a new direct flight connecting Larnaca and Brussels, linking Cyprus — which will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half of 2026 — with Belgium’s capital, the heart of the European Union.
The launch was celebrated on December 2 during an event held at Larnaca International Airport “Glafcos Clerides.”
According to AEGEAN’s announcement, “the new direct connection between Larnaca and Brussels ensures immediate access to a strategically important European destination, particularly ahead of Cyprus’s upcoming EU Presidency.”
For December 2025, AEGEAN will operate three weekly flights, increasing to five flights per week between January 1 and June 30, 2026.
The company added that this new route forms part of AEGEAN’s broader 2026 development plan, which includes an 8% capacity increase compared to 2025, bringing the total number of seats to and from Cyprus to 1.5 million.
This expansion, the airline emphasized, highlights the strategic importance of the Cypriot market and reaffirms AEGEAN’s commitment to strengthening the island’s air connectivity.
Marina Valvi, AEGEAN’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Communication, expressed her satisfaction with the launch of the direct Larnaca–Brussels route, describing it as “a service of high added value for both Cypriot passengers and international visitors.”
She added: “AEGEAN remains firmly committed to enhancing Cyprus’s connectivity, offering reliable and high-quality travel options that improve access to key European destinations.”
Valvi also noted that AEGEAN, “in close cooperation with Hermes Airports, continues to invest in its presence on the island, ensuring the comfort, service, and high-level travel experience that have defined AEGEAN for over 26 years.”
Maria Kouroupi, Director of Marketing and Communications at Hermes Airports, described the new route as “another significant step in enhancing Cyprus’s connectivity.”
She noted that “this flight will serve both the needs of the upcoming Cypriot EU Presidency and the long-standing demand for a direct link to the capital of Europe.”
Kouroupi added: “We look forward to close cooperation with all stakeholders to ensure that Cyprus is dynamically promoted to the Belgian market and that this direct route continues successfully beyond 2026.”
AEGEAN’s announcement further underlined that Cyprus remains one of the airline’s key operational hubs, with regular scheduled and charter flights connecting the island through Athens and Thessaloniki.
As part of this network expansion, the airline resumes its direct route to Heraklion from December 2, with two weekly flights, while continuing to operate:
-
Up to 7 daily flights to Athens,
-
Up to 7 weekly flights to Thessaloniki, and
-
Up to 8 weekly flights to Tel Aviv.
