Larnaca: A Conference Spotlighting Investment Potential

Insights from the British-Cypriot Business Association Conference

A conference titled "Larnaca – A Hidden Gem in the Mediterranean" was organized on Tuesday evening at a city hotel by the British-Cypriot Business Association of Cyprus. The event aimed to promote the city of Zenon as an investment destination and more.

Savvas Kyriakides, founder and President of the British-Cypriot Business Association of Cyprus, in his opening remarks, stated that "the conference's goal is to promote Larnaca as an emerging force in Cyprus, taking the baton from other cities, following Limassol and Paphos. We believe that Larnaca, attracting even Nicosians who frequently visit the free Famagusta district, is a city where both locals and foreigners can comfortably invest."

Tina Poullidi, an educator and co-organizer of the conference, said, "Our ancestors had recognized Larnaca's commercial character from ancient times, making it one of the most significant ports in the Mediterranean. The city of Zenon was one of Cyprus's most important cities and should serve as our inspiration today, as it is known for its rich history and now combines experiences of both ancient and modern culture," she emphasized.

Andreas Vyras, the Mayor of Larnaca, spoke about some characteristics of the city, such as "having the longest coastline, stretching 75 kilometers, being the third-largest city in Cyprus with an airport, port, and marina, and having easy access to the rest of the island's cities."

Angelos Hatzicharalambous, General Director of the Larnaca Sewerage Board, stated, "It is now commonly accepted that Larnaca has made significant strides in housing development, services, and enhancing the life quality of residents and visitors. Undoubtedly, the city is a key destination for business activities by Cypriot and foreign entrepreneurs, with particularly promising prospects for the city of Zenon," he pointed out.

It is worth noting that the conference was attended by Members of Parliament and business people from both Cyprus and abroad.
