Larnaca Marina and Port Project to Deliver Results by Early 2026

Minister Alexis Vafeades confirms progress on the Larnaca marina and port redevelopment with key deliverables expected within 2025 and early 2026.

The redevelopment of the Larnaca marina and port will show concrete deliverables by the end of this year and the beginning of 2026, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades announced yesterday. His statement followed a meeting at the Ministry of Transport with representatives of the Hellenic Republic’s National Investment Fund and the Mayor of Larnaca, focused on advancing the long-awaited project.

Mr. Vafeades stated: “Yesterday we met with the representatives of the Hellenic Republic’s National Investment Fund and their advisors. This marks another step toward fulfilling our commitment to bring the Larnaca marina redevelopment back on track.”

He noted that the consultations between the advisors and the local community were officially launched: “Yesterday we had an initial discussion, which will continue this afternoon and tomorrow,” he explained.

The Minister expressed confidence that valuable feedback will emerge: “We are certain that interesting views will be recorded, and all of them will be considered in the further study of the project. The next steps will involve ongoing consultation with both the Government and the local community, based on the findings and recommendations of this study.”

Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras welcomed the development: “This is a positive step forward. It is important for the voices and aspirations of the Larnaca community to be heard.”

He expressed hope that the effort would soon bear fruit: “We want this initiative to have a positive outcome and to finally begin a project that the people of Larnaca have been waiting for a very long time.”

The Mayor emphasized the need for visible progress in the area: “Our goal is to see work begin as soon as possible. Through this effort, we want Larnaca and Cyprus as a whole to benefit from a project that will strengthen both the city’s and the country’s economy.”

Project Timeline and Parallel Developments

When asked whether the project would begin in the coming year, the Transport Minister replied:
“There will be deliverables before the new year and at the beginning of the next.”

In parallel, Mayor Vyras confirmed that the municipality is moving forward with related works: “We are developing a large area of the marina to connect it with the rest of the city, including Europe Square and the creation of the Nautical Club, which will greatly benefit Larnaca.”

Minister Vafeades added that the Nautical Club project and the revitalization of Europe Square will transform the city: “These projects will give Larnaca a new structure and form a new urban center, which will be of great significance for everyone.”
