Larnaca Marina Management Set to Transition to CMMI Within Three Months

Vafeadis Confirms Timeline Amid Discussions on Local Development Projects

The management of Larnaca Marina is expected to be assigned to the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) within three months, according to the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works, Alexis Vafeadis. Speaking to reporters during his visit to the Christmas Village at the Presidential Palace's open-air amphitheater, the Minister emphasized the government's commitment to adhering to this timeline.

“I have already discussed the matter with the CEO of CMMI, and we have agreed to meet in the coming days to work out the details,” Minister Vafeadis stated in response to questions about the assignment schedule. “Our intention is to complete the process within the next three months, as per the Cabinet’s decision,” he added.

Addressing Larnaca Port Protests

When asked about the postponement of the planned protest at Larnaca Port, Minister Vafeadis noted that this delay provides an opportunity for progress on the projects announced by the Ministry for Larnaca. “It gives us time to engage with the local community and explore how we can implement the promised projects as quickly as possible,” he explained.

Regarding the upcoming protest scheduled for January at Larnaca Port, Minister Vafeadis expressed a preference for dialogue over demonstrations. “The best collaboration happens at the discussion table,” he remarked. While he acknowledged that protests are always respected, he added, “We believe that positive outcomes can be achieved through good communication and constructive discussions.”
