Larnaca Port’s New Terminal to Be Constructed by 2027

Upcoming Terminal Station Aims to Enhance the City’s Cruise Tourism and Passenger Experience

The new terminal station at Larnaca Port, included in the first phase of construction, is expected to be completed by 2027, according to the port's Director, Paris Dimitriou. He also stated that offering better services and innovative ideas is among the primary goals of Kition Ocean Port, the managing company of Larnaca Port. Furthermore, he added that the city has many advantages to offer in the cruise sector.

"The new terminal will be connected to the coastal road leading to Finikoudes Beach for the convenience of passengers visiting Larnaca," said Mr. Dimitriou, who, as per a Kition Ocean Port announcement, presented today's and tomorrow's Larnaca port and marina at a recent conference organized by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism on "Navigating through the cruise industry."

"The conference focused on the emerging challenges in the burgeoning cruise sector and the uncertainties caused by the crisis with the war in Israel, in light of the new tourism season and given the geopolitical tensions in the broader Mediterranean region," the statement added.

Mr. Dimitriou "outlined the many advantages of Larnaca as a starting point and stop for large cruise ships and the facilities tourists can enjoy upon their arrival. Among these facilities are the excursion and other experiences available in the city and the mountainous region of Larnaca, in cooperation with all competent authorities."

At the same time, "he extensively referred to the services offered by the port, the history, and culture of Larnaca and noted that offering better services and innovative ideas are among our main goals as the port's manager. While cruise tourism may begin and end at ports, what is of great importance is the visitor's experience during this time," he said.

He further added that "this is precisely what we need to explore, by uniting our forces, in order to support the industry and proactively address challenges."

Regarding the new terminal station, he stated that its modern design will incorporate "advanced technology and innovative infrastructure to accommodate state-of-the-art cruise ships, as well as optimize operations for the smooth disembarkation and boarding of passengers."
