Citizens have shown a marked interest in purchasing used electric vehicles. Given this demand, the Transport Minister, Alexis Vafeades, has instructed that the application flow be monitored until June to potentially increase subsidies for used vehicles.

The interest in purchasing used electric vehicles was substantial, as the initial allocation of 104 subsidies was quickly exhausted, indicating a market need for more affordable electric cars.

Minister Vafeades stated that the plan would be re-evaluated and needs reassessed to better serve the public. While there are still many subsidies available for other categories, the situation for used electric cars stands out. Of the 1,228 available applications for hybrid (plug-in) vehicles, 1,020 subsidies remain. Similarly, of the initial 1,827 subsidies for new electric cars, 1,274 are still available.

Due to high demand, 100 additional applications were added for large families purchasing new electric vehicles, leaving 69 subsidies available. Furthermore, there are 173 available applications for commercial vehicles and 798 for electric bicycles. However, all subsidies for scrapping old cars in exchange for 250 euros worth of bus tickets and a one-time payment of 500 euros have been exhausted.

Minister Vafeades emphasized to OffsiteNews, "The interest has not diminished. We are satisfied with the application flow and the scheme will remain open in the coming months."

Regarding used vehicles, Minister Vafeades highlighted that although the initial allotment was quickly depleted, the program would continue to be monitored and adjusted as necessary. It should be noted that applications for purchasing an electric or hybrid vehicle must be accompanied by an order within 14 days; otherwise, the application will be canceled if the order is not submitted within this period.
