Omiros Buys Cyprus Halloumi Producer Hadjipieris – €30 Million Investment in 5 Years

Greek dairy leader strengthens international presence with major halloumi production investment in Cyprus.

Greek dairy group Omiros has announced the acquisition of Cypriot dairy producer A. Hadjipieris Ltd through its subsidiary Omiros Dairies Cyprus, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening its international presence in the market for PDO-certified (Protected Designation of Origin) products.

Hadjipieris Ltd, a well-established producer of traditional halloumi and sheep’s yogurt, will become Omiros’ third production facility and the first outside of Greece. The acquisition marks a significant milestone for Omiros, which plans to preserve and promote the authentic character of Cypriot halloumi while building on the company’s decades-long growth.

Omiros has appointed Ioannis Billis, an experienced dairy industry executive with knowledge of both the Greek and Cypriot markets, to lead the Cypriot operations.

The initial investment plan, worth €5 million, will focus on expanding and modernizing the existing facilities to achieve an annual production of 5,500 tons of PDO halloumi. Additionally, Omiros intends to purchase industrial land to construct a state-of-the-art factory within three years, boosting production capacity to 12,000 tons annually.

Over the next five years, total investments in Cyprus are projected to reach €30 million.
