Paphos Marina Project Set for 2027 Signing
Kissonerga to host one of Cyprus’s largest tourism infrastructure projects.
The signing of the long-anticipated Paphos Marina project in the Potima area is expected to take place in January 2027, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis.
Speaking at the 1st Fish Festival, held on Sunday at Agios Georgios in Peyia, Koumis highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing cooperation with the newly established Akamas Municipality. The Ministry is directly responsible for implementing the Paphos Marina—one of the country’s most ambitious projects—planned for development in the Kissonerga region.
According to Koumis, the project is progressing according to schedule, with the goal of being ready for contract signings by early 2027. He noted that the marina will further enrich the already vibrant tourism offering of both the Akamas Municipality and the broader Paphos district, adding significant value to Cyprus’s tourism product.
Referring to the 1st Fish Festival, Koumis described the venue as a “historic location” with a longstanding role in maritime trade since ancient times.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of such events for the Deputy Ministry’s tourism strategy. “These festivals highlight Cyprus’s connection to the sea while also showcasing our strong ties to the hospitality sector through gastronomy,” he said. “They reflect the spirit of hospitality that defines us as a people.”
In his address, the Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, stated that the goal of the local authority is to establish the festival as an annual tradition.
The festival took place at the picturesque harbor of Agios Georgios in Peyia, where attendees were offered complimentary fresh fish. The event featured a live music program, including a performance by Greek singer Giorgos Tsalikis, along with various children’s activities.
