How Many Registered Businesses Are There in Cyprus Today?
Business Registrations in Cyprus Rebound in 2025 — But Partnerships See Sharp Decline
Cyprus has seen a modest rebound in business activity so far in 2025, according to data from the Department of Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property. The number of registered companies reached 197,854 by the end of May, recovering from a slight dip in 2024 but still below pre-2022 levels.

One of the most notable trends in the data is the continuous decline in registered partnerships. From 6,173 at the end of 2021, the figure has dropped to just 4,966 — the lowest in at least five years. Experts point to structural shifts in the economy and the limited legal and financial appeal of partnerships in the current business climate.
Meanwhile, registrations of business names continue to grow year after year. The figure stood at 49,512 by May 2025, marking a 3.7% increase from the end of 2024 and a nearly 11% rise compared to 2021.
Foreign interest in Cyprus remains stable, with overseas companies holding firm at just over 1,200 entries since 2021 (1,229 by May 2025). European legal structures like SEs and EEICs remain negligible in number, highlighting their limited relevance in the Cypriot business landscape.
The overall data points to a gradual but uneven recovery in Cyprus’s business ecosystem — with corporate registrations bouncing back, sole proprietorships expanding, but traditional partnership models on the decline.
