Exploring Opportunities in Research and Innovation
An innovative conference to highlight the opportunities offered by the field of Research and Innovation in the economy, society, and Cypriot entrepreneurship is being organized on Friday, February 9th, by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF).
According to an announcement from the Foundation, the event will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. It is under the auspices of the Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation, and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus, Dimitris Skourides. The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy, Nikodemos Damianou, will deliver a welcoming address.
With the theme "Innovation, Cooperation, Development," RIF's Partner Day aims to present the main policies, actions, prospects, and opportunities emerging in the fields of research and innovation in Cyprus. The ultimate goal of the conference is to highlight the role and importance of research and innovation for the economy and citizens, to facilitate the exchange of views for strengthening and further exploiting the potential of the Cypriot ecosystem, as well as to encourage the business community to invest further in research and development activities.
The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and expertise, promoting the connection between research and industry, the labor market, and entrepreneurial innovation. This creates a conducive environment for collaborations that contribute to the development and commercial exploitation of innovative products and services.
During the event, the Director General of RIF will present the Foundation's main funding programs and coordinate a roundtable discussion on the importance of connecting research with industry.
From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, thematic workshops will be held in parallel, with the participation of government officials, entrepreneurs, executives from startups, and representatives from research/academic institutions and Centers of Excellence. The workshops will focus on the following themes: 1) ICT - Information and Communication Technology Applications, 2) Energy, Green Development, and Environment, 3) Health Sciences, and 4) Shipping and Blue Economy.
