2024 Solar Water Heater Subsidy Scheme for Cyprus Residences Now Open
Government Grants Available For The Installation Or Replacement Of Solar Hot Water Systems In Homes
The Management Committee of the RES and Energy Conservation Fund has announced the commencement of applications for the “2024 Subsidy Scheme for Solar Hot Water Systems in Residences.” The process will remain open until a total of 1,500 applications have been submitted across the scheme's two categories.
“The Subsidy Scheme provides grants for the installation or replacement of complete water heating systems (hot water cylinder and solar panels), provided the equipment meets minimum technical criteria,” the announcement states.
It clarifies that installations must be carried out by certified installers listed in the “Certified Installers Directory,” and the equipment installed must be included in the “Eligible Equipment Directory,” which is pre-approved and coded.
The grant amount per application/residence is set at €500 for the General Category, increasing to €900 for residences located in mountainous areas. For vulnerable households, the subsidy is €900.
“Applicants must secure pre-approval before proceeding with the installation,” the announcement emphasizes, adding that starting installation work prior to receiving pre-approval constitutes grounds for rejection under the scheme’s provisions.
“In addition to submitting applications, the Management Committee of the RES and Energy Conservation Fund calls on interested professionals to take the necessary steps to register in the Certified Installers Directory,” the announcement concludes.
