Tourism Revenue Up 3.1% In 2024, May Sees Minor Dip
Tourism Earnings Reach €751.2 Million In The First Five Months, With British And Israeli Tourists Leading The Spending
Tourism revenue increased by 3.1% in the first five months of the year. However, a slight decrease was observed in May.
According to the Statistical Service, based on the results of the Travel Survey, tourism revenue in May 2024 reached €310.5 million, showing a decrease of just 0.2% compared to the same month last year (€311.0 million).
For the period from January to May 2024, tourism revenue is estimated at €751.2 million, compared to €728.6 million for the same period in 2023, marking an increase of 3.1%.
The per capita spending by tourists in May 2024 was €736.82, compared to €740.36 in May 2023, indicating a decrease of 0.5%.
British tourists, the largest tourist market with 39.8% of all tourists in May 2024, spent an average of €83.18 per day. Israeli tourists, the second largest market for that month with 7.9% of the total, spent an average of €161.66.
Additionally, tourists from Poland, the third largest market with 7.6%, spent €86.40 per day.
