Compensation Payments to Depositors Affected by the Haircut Begin
€44 Million for 4,524 Beneficiaries
Today, compensation of approximately €44.36 million is being paid to 4,524 affected depositors and bondholders, Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letymbiotis announced during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace.
According to Mr. Letymbiotis: “The transfers to the Central Bank have already been initiated. This payment is not just a technical process; it is a clear demonstration of the Government’s political will and consistency in implementing Cabinet decisions, while supporting in practice the citizens who were impacted.”
He added that the procedure is progressing smoothly, according to plan, ensuring that all beneficiaries who have confirmed their amounts will receive the compensation they are entitled to.
Mr. Letymbiotis also urged those who have not yet submitted their details through the electronic platform to do so immediately, so that the amounts lost during the 2013 haircut can be verified and the corresponding compensation disbursed.
