Cyprus Industrial Production Grows 2.5% Annually as EU Slumps
Cyprus industrial production marked a 2.5% annual increase in May 2026, defying a broader downward trend in the Euro area and the EU, according to the latest figures released by Eurostat.
May 2026 Production Sluggish But Steady
Industrial production in Cyprus remained unchanged in May 2026 on a monthly basis, following an increase of 0.1% in April. This was preceded by increases of 1.6% in March and 1.7% in January, as well as decreases of 2.3% in February and 1.5% in December 2025.
Solid Annual Gains Recorded
According to data published by Eurostat on Wednesday, on an annual basis industrial production in Cyprus increased by 2.5% in May 2026, compared with an increase of 1.5% in April. An increase of 2.5% had also been recorded in March, while in January there was an increase of 4.1% and in February a decrease of 1.8%.
Euro Area and EU Experience Slight Drops
According to the Eurostat’s first estimates, seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased in May, compared with April, by 0.2% in the euro area and by 0.1% in the EU.
Yearly Deficit Widens Across the Continent
In April 2026, industrial production had increased by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU. On an annual basis, that is compared with May 2025, industrial production decreased by 1.2% in the euro area and by 0.3% in the EU.
