Fresh data from Eurostat reveals that Cyprus has maintained its positive industrial output momentum into the spring of 2026, outpacing the wider euro area's annual growth benchmarks despite a mixed performance across other EU member states.

Steady Month-on-Month Trends

Cyprus recorded a further increase in industrial production in April 2026, both on a monthly and annual basis, according to data published by Eurostat on Monday.

More specifically, industrial production in Cyprus rose by 0.1% in April compared with March 2026, continuing the positive trend observed in the previous month, when output increased by 1.6%.

Strong Annual Performance Against Eurozone Peers

On an annual basis, industrial production in Cyprus grew by 1.6% compared with April 2025. This followed a 2.5% year-on-year increase in March and maintained the generally positive trend recorded since late 2025, with the exception of February, when production declined by 1.7%.

According to Eurostat, seasonally adjusted industrial production in the European Union and euro area increased by 0.1% in April 2026 compared with the previous month. Compared with April 2025, industrial production rose by 0.9% in the EU and by 0.3% in the euro area.

Comparative European Landscapes

Eurostat noted that, at EU level, the largest monthly increase was recorded in Malta (+5.2%), followed by Sweden (3.4%) and the Netherlands (1.6%). The steepest declines were observed in Bulgaria (-4.6%), Greece (-3.5%) and Poland (-3.4%).

On an annual basis, the highest increases in industrial production were registered in Denmark (12.2%), Lithuania (7.4%) and Malta (7.3%). By contrast, the largest annual decreases were recorded in Luxembourg (-6.1%), Bulgaria (-4.2%), Ireland (-4.2%) and Estonia (-3.9%).
