Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanoli Highlights Rural Development Through Tradition

Deputy Minister Hadjimanoli Highlights the Christodoulides Government’s Commitment to Strengthening Rural Economies by Leveraging Cultural Heritage and Local Tradition for Sustainable Growth.

Cultural Heritage and Rural Development: A Key Priority for the Christodoulides Government

For the government of Nikos Christodoulides, supporting rural areas and promoting our cultural heritage is a key policy priority, as it strengthens the local economy and contributes significantly to the sustainable development of our communities, Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanoli, said in her opening remarks at the 2nd Resi Festival in Pano Kivides, Limassol District.

The festival celebrates resi, a traditional Cypriot dish made from wheat.

According to the Deputy Minister, rural communities in Cyprus have the opportunity to take the lead, showcase their region, and create meaningful and forward-looking institutions.

As she noted, resi is a prime example of how gastronomy is inextricably linked to the history and social life of our region.

She added that promoting Cypriot gastronomy and local products is a key pillar for strengthening our tourism identity, creating new opportunities for communities, and contributing to the diversification of our tourism product.

“We will continue to work consistently to ensure that such initiatives are substantially strengthened and gain even greater momentum in the future. Because we believe that development is not limited to urban centers. It is found here, in the communities, in the people, in the land that is cultivated, and in the traditions that continue,” she concluded.
