7th International Conference on RES and Energy Efficiency to Commence in Nicosia

Ministry of Energy, KEVE, and IRENA Join Forces

In Nicosia, the much-anticipated 7th International Conference on Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency (RESEE2023) is set to begin this Thursday, culminating on October 14th. The conference boasts the participation of over 150 invited delegates hailing from various countries and organizations worldwide.

According to an official release, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE), and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) are collaborating to organize this global gathering.

The event, which is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is set to take place at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia. The diverse list of participants goes beyond just the 150 international delegates, encompassing academic institutions, research bodies, business entities, and public authorities that are actively engaged in the fields of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy efficiency.

President Christodoulides is scheduled to address the attendees during the concluding thematic session on the afternoon of Friday, October 13th, 2023. Other figures set to grace the occasion with their remarks at RESEE2023 include Francesco La Camera, the Director-General of IRENA; Giorgos Papanastasiou, the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry; and Christodoulos Agkastiniotis, the President of KEVE.

10th Annual Green Dot Cyprus Environmental and Recycling Festival Set for October 15th in Limassol

Furthermore, with the aim of raising public awareness on environmental issues, particularly recycling, the 10th Annual Environmental and Recycling Festival organized by Green Dot Cyprus is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 15th at Limassol Marina.

At a press conference held in Limassol's City Hall, Mayor Nikos Nikolaides praised the decade-long tradition of the festival and highlighted the increasing importance of prioritizing environmental concerns, the green transition, climate neutrality, and the challenges threatening our planet. On behalf of Green Dot Cyprus, Michalis Panagidis stated that the festival's goal is to sensitize the public about environmental matters, specifically recycling, in both a fun and educational manner.

The festival will feature booths with educational games, workshops on recycling and reuse, competitions with prizes, and various other activities. Panagidis added that this year's event will focus on the nexus of green and digital transition and will be complemented by artistic performances, music, dance, and theater.

Representing the collective waste battery collection system "ΑΦΗΣ Cyprus," Chris Christodoulou expressed his delight in participating in the festival, emphasizing its central theme of environmental consciousness and the necessity to introduce the younger generation and our children to the everyday practice of recycling.

Christodoulou invited everyone to visit Limassol Marina on Sunday, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, where "ΑΦΗΣ Cyprus" will operate two booths, informing the public about the significance of battery recycling.
