Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition Showcases a Legacy of Innovation
Past winners Malloc, Heroes Made, and others highlight the impact of CyEC on Cyprus’ startup ecosystem
The Centre for Entrepreneurship of the University of Cyprus (C4E) has announced the launch of the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition (CyEC) 2025, one of the island’s flagship initiatives promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. Organized annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, the competition offers early-stage entrepreneurs the chance to refine their ideas and bring them closer to market.
Open to startups, individuals with pioneering concepts, and professionals from the research and business community, CyEC provides participants with mentorship, industry guidance, and visibility. The competition emphasizes the journey from problem-solution fit to product-market fit, helping turn bold ideas into viable ventures.
Applicants can submit entries in two categories:
-
Accelerator Category: For early-stage ideas (July 21 – September 10, 2025).
-
LaunchPad Category: For more mature projects with products or services already in the market (July 21 – November 3, 2025).
Selected Accelerator teams will undergo a tailored business acceleration program, including mentoring, private and public pitching sessions, and the chance to compete for cash prizes at the annual Entrepreneurship Forum.
Since its inception, CyEC has attracted more than 220 applications and produced winners who have gone on to make a mark locally and internationally. Among them are:
-
Malloc, a startup developing data protection and privacy software, which has since gained recognition from international investors.
-
Heroes Made, an educational platform blending gamification and behavioral science to teach children positive habits.
-
IQ3Solar, advancing renewable energy solutions tailored for Cyprus and beyond.
-
Bolsterup and Elysia Solutions, both of which leveraged the competition’s mentoring and exposure to accelerate their growth.
These success stories highlight CyEC’s role not just as a competition, but as a launchpad for entrepreneurial ambition in Cyprus.
For visionaries ready to take the next step, applications are open via the official website www.cyec.org.cy.
