Limassol Unveils €7 Million Student Housing Project — 80 New Units Coming Soon

Mayor Armetis outlines the project’s timeline and next steps.

The Limassol Municipality is moving forward with the creation of 80 student residences, Mayor Yiannis Armenis confirmed in an interview with OffsiteNews. He provided details on the project’s timeline and its implementation stages.

Recently, the municipality revealed the results of the architectural competition for the student housing project, which will be built on municipal land near Cyprus University of Technology’s second campus (B’ Pole). The development is estimated to cost around €7 million.

According to Mayor Armenis, the project presentation to the public and the design teams will take place on November 19.

The mayor outlined the following stages for the project’s completion:

  • Agreement with the appointed architects and designers

  • Preparation of plans for the urban planning permit

  • Submission for building permit approval

  • Completion of construction designs

  • Tender process

  • Construction phase

The project is expected to be completed within three to four years. “As a local authority, we will exert pressure to ensure the necessary permits are issued as quickly as possible,” said Mayor Armenis, emphasizing the importance of the development.

He added that the architectural competition was “a very successful process, attracting 54 proposals of exceptionally high quality.”

Mayor Armenis highlighted the project’s broader social purpose, noting that affordable student housing will help address Limassol’s rising rental costs.

“With this project, we aim to support students. Limassol has high rental prices, so this initiative will create new opportunities for affordable housing. The municipality is taking tangible steps to make Limassol a welcoming city with a strong academic presence,” the mayor concluded.
