What to Know About the TFA Transition and VAT Deadlines in Cyprus

Cyprus Tax Department Transitions PAYE/DAS Payments to TFA: VAT Filing Deadline Extended

As of July 1, 2025, payments of withheld tax and contributions (PAYE/DAS) will no longer be possible through the Tax Portal, due to the ongoing migration of withholding tax and contributions declarations to the new Tax For All (TFA) system, the Tax Department announced.

Upon completion of this transfer to TFA, the Tax Department stated that the corresponding payments will resume and may be made through TFA using credit/debit cards, via internet banking, or at bank counters providing this service, using the payment reference number generated in the TFA system.

VAT Filing Extended to July 29

The deadline for submitting the Value Added Tax (VAT) return and paying the VAT due for the period ending May 31, 2025, as well as for submitting the Recapitulative Statement (VIES) for June 2025, has been extended until July 29, 2025.

According to a Thursday announcement by the Tax Department, the extension was deemed necessary due to a scheduled interruption of the TFA system for upgrade purposes.

The department clarifies that after July 29, 2025, the submission of VAT returns, payment of VAT due, and submission of the VIES statement will be considered late and subject to financial penalties and additional tax.

Specifically, a €100 penalty for late submission of the VAT return, an additional 10% tax on the VAT due, and a €50 penalty for late submission of the VIES statement will apply.
