From Five to Two: The Cypriot Cities in the Race for European Capital of Culture 2030

Final Decision to Be Announced in December 2025

Limassol and Larnaca have been selected as the two finalist cities representing Cyprus in the European Capital of Culture 2030 competition. The announcement was made by Anthony Attard, President of the Expert Panel, during a press conference at the Deputy Ministry of Culture in Nicosia on Thursday afternoon.

Nicosia, Ayia Napa, and Kourion were eliminated from the shortlist, leaving Limassol and Larnaca to compete for the title. The final decision on which city will be awarded European Capital of Culture 2030 will be announced in December 2025, following a panel meeting.
