The House of Science invites you to a special day dedicated to the sky and the universe at the Troodos Astropark in Amiantos, on Sunday, June 28, 2025. The event promises an immersive experience featuring public lectures, sky mapping (uranography), and guided telescope observations, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore the beauty and secrets of the cosmos.

Event Schedule: Lectures & Activities

Get to know the different types of telescopes and how they work. This session includes practical advice for choosing and using telescopes—ideal for both beginners and advanced users.

19:30 — Targeting the Moon
Learn how to align and focus telescopes as we take a closer look at Earth’s natural satellite.

20:00 — Light Pollution: The Invisible Enemy of the Sky
A short presentation on light pollution, its causes, consequences, and practical ways to protect our night skies.

20:30 — Celestial Targets
Discover the astronomical objects you’ll observe through the telescopes, including planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Learn what they are, how to locate them, and why they matter.

21:00 — Uranography: Guided Tour of the Night Sky
Explore major constellations and the brightest stars as we unveil the myths and stories behind them.

As night falls, astronomical observation begins. Participants will be able to observe celestial objects through telescopes provided by the organizers. If you have your own telescope, you’re encouraged to bring it—just be sure to arrive before 19:00 for setup assistance if needed.

Even if you're not bringing equipment, it is strongly recommended to arrive before 20:00—not only to attend the lectures but also to avoid disturbing the observers with headlights, which can interfere with night vision.
