French High Commissioner for Children in Cyprus for High-Level European Conference

France’s High Commissioner for Children, Sarah El Haïri, will be in Nicosia on Thursday, May 21, to participate in the high-level European conference on “No Child Left Behind: Promoting Children’s Well-being and Combating Child Poverty” held in the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

According to a press release issued by the French Embassy in Nicosia, the High Commissioner will participate in a roundtable discussion dedicated to the implementation of the European Pledge for Children, together with several European Ministers.

As noted, the discussions will focus, among other things, on ways to ensure the effective protection of the most vulnerable children, in a context characterized by the social and digital challenges they face.

On the sidelines of the conference, the High Commissioner will visit the French Cypriot school in Limassol to discuss about the protection of children from the effects of digital media use with students and teaching staff, while she will also visit the Alliance Française to be informed about the educational and cultural activities aimed at French-speaking youth, the press release concluded.
