Have you Walked the 'Teisia tis Madaris' Trail?
Now you have the chance to do so with the Cyprus Hikers group!
The Cyprus Hikers are organizing another hiking excursion, this time on Sunday, February 25th, to the Madari Mountain, which revolves around a magnificent 14-kilometer loop.
This hike is rated as a level 3 difficulty trail and is expected to last up to 5 hours, including breaks.
The hike involves significant elevation changes. The group will start at 1285 meters (Selladi Karamanli) and descend to the lowest point of the trail at 1046 meters before reaching "Moutti tis Choras" at 1174 meters, then ascending to 1345 meters.
There will be an ascent to 1600 meters at Skopia before the final descent back to Selladi Karamanli at 1285 meters.
During the hike, the trail will pass through dense forests of pine, golden oak, oak, and many other species of trees and shrubs, offering a rich reward for hikers. Another part of the trail runs along the rocks with very little or no vegetation.
Hiking serves as an excellent team bonding activity, as well as a chance to clear one’s mind and start anew. Therefore, groups of professionals (or individuals) may want to seize the opportunity to come closer to each other and to nature.
The hike begins at 10:00 am. The starting point of this hike is Selladi Karamanli, which can be reached by car along the only paved road leading through the village of Saranti.
Sturdy hiking poles are strongly recommended for this hike. Additionally, due to the duration of the hike, make sure to carry plenty of water with you.
There will be a series of stops along our route allowing time for a quick snack, so it is recommended to bring along some snacks, fruits, or light food.
If you are coming from Nicosia, you have the option to meet the group at the starting point on foot or at the designated meeting point in Nicosia.
The meeting point in Nicosia is the closed Athletic Center of Lykavitos (next to the Makario Stadium).
The carpooling departs at 9:00 am. Please make sure to adhere to the departure times for the benefit of the group.
