Statistical Service Data Reveal Age and Gender Breakdown of Cyprus’ Growing Population
Cyprus’ population (De Jure) increased by 17,300 in 2023, reaching 966,400 compared to 949,100 in 2022, according to figures released on Friday by the Statistical Service.
Of the total 966,400 residents, 475,600 were men and 490,800 were women.
The largest age group in the population, for both men and women, was 15–44 years, totaling 403,400 in 2023. This was followed by the 45–64 age group with 243,800 people, and the 65+ age group with 171,600 people.
More specifically, the single largest five-year age bracket was 35–39, with 81,000 people, followed by the 40–44 group with 77,200 people.
For both genders, the 15–44 age group represented the highest population segment. Within this category, women numbered 198,800, while men totaled 204,600.
