Paphos Wins Silver Quality Coast Award and Ranks Among Top 100 Green Tourist Destinations
ETAP aims to achieve even greater recognition in the coming years by securing Gold and Platinum Quality Coast Awards.
Paphos has secured the Silver Quality Coast Award and a spot among the top 100 Green Tourist Destinations for 2024-2026. This recognition, announced by the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism (ETAP), follows an extensive reevaluation process, reflecting the region’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly tourism practices.
The award underscores Paphos’ unparalleled natural beauty, scenic beaches, and rich biodiversity, particularly in the Akamas Peninsula. With this achievement, Paphos further enhances its reputation as a destination known for pristine waters, vibrant landscapes, and cultural heritage.
According to ETAP, key selection criteria for the award include water quality, biodiversity, environmental protection, socio-economic conditions, cultural heritage preservation, and minimal noise and air pollution levels. Tourist information quality was also evaluated as part of the process.
Since 2013, Paphos has been recognized by the European Quality Coast initiative as one of the top sustainable holiday destinations, emphasizing harmony with nature. This most recent accolade reflects the region’s consistent efforts to integrate sustainability into its tourism strategy.
ETAP aims to achieve even greater recognition in the coming years by securing Gold and Platinum Quality Coast Awards. The ultimate goal is to position Paphos among the few destinations worldwide with certification recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
