Pleiades: The Documentary Giving Voice to the Victims of Nikolas Metaxas
The creators reveal the emotional journey behind the series on the victims of serial killer Nikolas Metaxas.
For those unfamiliar, Pleiades is a seven-episode documentary series that explores the stories of the victims of serial killer Nikolas Metaxas, known by the alias “Orestis”. The documentary is created and directed by Paris Prokopiou and Andreas Sieittanis.
Today, the release trailer of the series was unveiled. One of the directors, Andreas Sieittanis, shared on social media his deep emotion as well as his gratitude towards the collaborators whose contribution was essential to the completion of the documentary.
Among other things, he noted that more than 100 people contributed to the creation of the documentary, helping to bring visibility to the victims’ stories and give a voice to the women who were unjustly killed. At the same time, the project offers their families a sense of closure and a final chapter, while bringing to the surface the largest series of crimes ever committed in Cyprus and confronting its place in the island’s social history.
Specifically, he stated:
“It is difficult to condense more than three years of work into a two-minute trailer, but I want to believe that one can see this project was not created by chance.
More than 100 people added their own piece (some added entire bricks), and I want to thank them all from the bottom of my heart, because without you we would not have achieved anything.
Without you, the stories of these women would have remained buried and forgotten forever. Without you, these families would still be wondering why no one had ever paid attention to them. Without you, the largest series of crimes ever committed in Cyprus would have been forgotten, without any meaningful change taking place.
We fought countless battles over the past few years, but at last, we made it. The documentary has been completed.
Now there is one final battle left:
To show it to the world.
Thank you all for your support.
For Marry, Sierra, Arian, Elena, Natalia, Asmita, and Maricar.”
