Queer Wave 2025: The Cyprus LGBTQIA+ Film Festival Returns to NiMAC on 12–21 September
In the heart of Nicosia's walled city, the iconic Cyprus LGBTQIA+ Film Festival makes its appearance for the 6th consecutive year. Queer Wave will once again be hosted at the NiMAC exhibition spaces from 12–21 September 2025, celebrating a unique mosaic of cinema, performance, and visual arts.
Next month, Queer Wave will open its doors for a ten-day programme of screenings and parallel events, bringing together a local and international community of creators, giving voice to LGBTQIA+ experiences and queer expression.
Updates on this year’s programme and pre-festival events will be shared gradually through the website queerwave.com and the festival’s social media: @queerwavecyprus.
Queer Wave 2025 is organised by the non-profit company Queer Wave LTD and is funded by the Deputy Ministry of Culture – Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture.
Queer Wave began in 2020. In just five years of activity, the festival has offered over 200 Cyprus premieres of LGBTQIA+ films from the international scene, while also supporting the work of Cypriot filmmakers and artists.
NiMAC [Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, Associated with the Pierides Foundation] is housed in the renovated Old Powerhouse building, located in the historic center of Nicosia. It is the oldest and largest Contemporary Art Centre in Cyprus.
