Storm ADEL Hits Cyprus - What to Know
Weather shift brings showers, storms and a slight temperature drop.
A shift in weather conditions is on the way as storm system ADEL begins affecting Cyprus from Saturday night, bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the west and north. Until then, the region remains under weak high pressure, with episodes of light dust expected in the atmosphere through Saturday.
Friday
Increased medium and high cloud cover will be observed throughout the day. Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to southeast, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and occasionally reaching 5 Beaufort in windward areas. The sea will be slightly rough and locally moderate in the east. Temperatures will rise to around 26°C inland, 25°C on the coasts, and 16°C in the higher mountains.
Friday Night
Increased medium and high clouds will persist. Winds will shift mainly from the north to northeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough, locally up to moderate in the east. Temperatures will drop to 12°C inland, 15°C along the coasts, and 9°C in the mountains.
Saturday
Periods of increased cloud cover may bring isolated showers after midday, mainly in the west and the mountains. From the evening onwards, storm ADEL will begin to affect the area more directly, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, initially in the west and north and gradually elsewhere. Temperatures will rise slightly, remaining a little above the seasonal average.
Sunday
Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected at intervals. Temperatures will fall but remain slightly above average for the season.
Monday
Weather will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers possible. Temperatures will show no significant change.
