Weaving Unity: Bicommual Art Project at Larnaca Biennale 2025

A Two-Day Celebration of Coexistence Through Weaving, Art, and Music

Weaving Unity is a two-day bicommunal artistic initiative presented as an official parallel event of the Larnaca Biennale 2025. Through a participatory weaving workshop and a large-scale public celebration at the Space for Creation and Culture in the heart of Larnaca, the project symbolically redefines the “Green Line” that divides Cyprus, transforming it into a thread of creativity and coexistence between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots through art and music.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, participants from both communities will join a weaving workshop with Greek Cypriot urban weaving artist Ifigeneia Papageorgiou and the event curator Konstantinos Charilaou. Together they will co-create a collective artwork, using recycled and personal fabrics woven onto a metal grid. The act of weaving will serve as a central symbolic gesture of reconciliation and shared artistic expression.

Curated and produced by Konstantinos Charilaou in collaboration with a diverse team of artists, Weaving Unity is more than an event—it is an act of reconciliation, understanding, and reconnection. It is an invitation to imagine a shared and open future, starting with a single thread.
