The capital has put on its festive lights, and the Nicosia Municipality announces that, as part of its Christmas events programme, the public will have the chance to walk along Makariou Avenue — which will be closed to traffic. The temporary closure will affect the northern section of Makariou, between Spyrou Kyprianou Street and Evagorou Street, on the following dates and times:

6–7, 13–14, 20–21, and 27–28 December

Hours: 10:00 – 22:00

6 January 2026, between 19:00 – 00:00

The official announcement from the Nicosia Municipality states that during the above periods, vehicle access to this section of the avenue will be temporarily suspended to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the festive events.

It is noted that residents and authorised individuals in the area will retain access at all times, with guidance from traffic officers.
