Journalists Visit CYENS
Visitors Were Guided Through CYENS Facilities
CYENS Centre of Excellence had the pleasure of welcoming a group of journalists from the Turkish Cypriot community on Thursday, 17 November 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
This meeting took place as part of an effort to strengthen communication relations and build collaborations between local communities and is the second in a series of visits organized by CYENS for interested media professionals.
The visit kicked off with a presentation on the latest projects of CYENS, by Dr. Fotis Liarokapis, leader of the Extended Experiences research group.
Visitors were guided through CYENS facilities, starting from the Nicosia Smart City Project, whose Control Centre is located in the same building as CYENS at Mayor Lellos Demetriades Street. The project was presented by the project manager, Ms. Konstantina Lortzie.
The tour included a brief introduction to the multifunctional creative space of Thinker Maker Space and the programs and services available, from the Senior Manager, Mr. Marios Constantinides.
Lastly, visitors were informed about the capabilities of the Virtual Production Studio, housed in the Theatro Polis OPAP and engaged in discussions with staff members.
The visit was attended by Hasan Hasturer, Bertug Topal, Artun Çaga, Serap Sahin, Ali Kurtoglu, and Selda Içer.
The CYENS Centre of Excellence was established in 2018 as a non-profit organization, in the walled city of Nicosia, through securing a competitive proposal from the European Commission's Horizon 2020 funding program to support research and innovation. The project is coordinated by the Municipality of Nicosia, partnering with the three public universities of Cyprus, and the European scientific institutions University College London (UCL) and Max Planck Institute (MPI), and supported by the Republic of Cyprus. The Centre is active in the fields of Interactive Media, Smart Systems, and Emerging Technologies and conducts interdisciplinary and applied research in a wide range of disciplines.
