SocialTech Lab Joins Forces with Ventures Thrive to Boost Deeptech Startups in Cyprus

SocialTech Lab Co-Founders and Ventures Thrive Coordinator Speak on their Partnership to FastForward

SocialTech Lab, an organization dedicated to fostering peacetech innovations, has announced a community partnership with Ventures Thrive, a leading pan-European venture builder. This collaboration aims to catapult Cyprus-based deeptech startups into the European business landscape, offering unique opportunities for growth and investment.

The partnership focuses on empowering deeptech startups in Cyprus through various initiatives. These include supporting startup growth and investment readiness, building connections between startups, accelerators, and European business ecosystems, and facilitating cross-border scaling through funding, client acquisition, and talent sourcing.

Applications for the next Ventures Thrive cohort are open until January 17, 2024. Accepted startups, including those from Cyprus, will be eligible for up to €100,000 in equity-free funding, alongside mentoring, networking, investor access, masterclasses, and more.

Unlocking Opportunities for Cyprus-based Startups

Speaking to FastForward, Steven Stavrou and Burak Doluay, co-founders of SocialTech Lab, expressed their enthusiasm about the partnership. “We’re really excited to become a Community Partner of Ventures Thrive because it gives us the opportunity to unlock new business and funding opportunities within the greater European region for Cyprus-based startups. Our community partnership extends beyond Ventures Thrive venture builder and further focuses on creating opportunities to empower deeptech startups in Cyprus by supporting their growth and investment readiness, building connections between startups, accelerators, and other business ecosystems in Europe and creating links with Cyprus, as well as improving capacity for cross-border scaling through funding opportunities, potential clients, talent, etc.,” they stated.

Ventures Thrive coordinator, Antti Heikkilä, highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration. “Partnering with SocialTech Lab grants us direct access to Cyprus’ deeptech sector and European innovation hubs. Our focus is on identifying potential unicorns and guiding them to set and exceed ambitious business KPIs. Ventures Thrive’s unique, remotely operated growth programme, supported by a network of over 40 international business experts, will play a pivotal role in this endeavor,” Heikkilä said.

SocialTech Lab stands at the forefront of leveraging technology for peacebuilding and economic growth in regions marked by conflict or instability. Their platforms provide digital tools and resources to foster entrepreneurship and resilience in challenging environments.

Ventures Thrive, on the other hand, is an 8-month venture-building programme that accelerates the growth of CEE deeptech ventures. It offers access to significant equity-free capital, masterclasses, and a global network of corporate partners, investors, and industry leaders, focusing on climate tech solutions in its first cycle.
