Rapid Adoption of Social Media, High-Speed Internet, and Business Software Among Cypriot Companies

In 2023, a significant 79.9% of enterprises in Cyprus are utilizing social media, as reported by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. Specifically, 79.7% of enterprises with ten or more employees engage with social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn. Additionally, 38.5% use multimedia content-sharing platforms such as YouTube and Instagram, while 22.7% engage with blogs or microblogs like Twitter. Notably, 8.5% of these enterprises offer mobile applications for client services, including loyalty programs and customer support.

Internet connectivity remains high among Cypriot enterprises, with 96.4% having an internet connection. There's a growing preference for high-speed connections: 72.1% of enterprises in 2023 have internet speeds exceeding 100 Mbit/s, a substantial increase from just 17.1% in 2019.

The most common contracted download speed in 2023 falls between 100 Mbit/s and 500 Mbit/s, used by 41.6% of enterprises. Following this, 19.3% have speeds between 30 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s, while 16.1% enjoy speeds over 1 Gbit/s, and 14.5% have speeds between 500 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s. The least preferred option, under 30 Mbit/s, is used by only 4.9% of enterprises.

ERP: Most Widely Used Business Software

In 2022, nearly one-fourth of enterprises (23.5%) received orders via computer networks, with 22.4% through websites or apps and 3.6% via EDI-type messages. A notable 18.2% received orders through their own websites or apps, while 11.9% used e-commerce marketplaces. Orders from private customers were more prevalent, at 20.8%, compared to 13.2% from other businesses or government/public authorities.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is the most widely used business software in Cyprus, adopted by 41.6% of enterprises. This software integrates various business functions like accounting and marketing into a cohesive system.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is the second most popular, used by 29.5% of enterprises. CRM systems manage customer information, integrating data from various channels into a single database for analysis.

Business Intelligence (BI) software, used by 20.8% of enterprises, analyses data from various sources and presents it in an understandable format, aiding in decision-making and strategic planning.

Additionally, 26.6% of enterprises perform data analytics in-house, using both internal and external data sources. However, 13.6% prefer hiring external service providers for data analytics.

Cloud computing services have been purchased by 52.9% of enterprises in 2023. The primary use is for email services (47.4%), followed by office software (40.3%), security applications (39.7%), and file storage (26.2%).
