The first quarter of 2024 closed with a 5.4% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis. 

"Given the many peculiarities and challenges we face this year, we are engaged in a significant struggle," Koumis noted, pointing to ongoing events in the Eastern Mediterranean and the economic crisis in some countries that provide a large number of visitors to Cyprus. He acknowledged that the situation is challenging.

However, Koumis added, "The results are encouraging, and we hope to achieve another solid performance by the year's end," expressing a wish for all regional tensions to subside.

The Deputy Minister mentioned that Israel, Cyprus' second-largest tourism market, has recorded a 26% decrease in arrivals so far. However, other markets, such as Poland, Germany, and Switzerland, are showing strong growth.
