Photovoltaics for All: First Approvals Already Sent

The Budget for the Scheme Totals €30 Million

Starting on Monday, May 2, pre-approvals for the 'Photovoltaics for All' scheme began to be sent via email to eligible recipients, as announced by the Ministry of Energy.

As previously reported by Brief, the dispatch of these pre-approvals was just a matter of time. Over the past few days, the Ministry has been conducting final checks, as applications are automatically evaluated by the system, without any human intervention.

Brief has learned that since the plan opened on March 1, 2024, around 5,400 fully completed applications have been submitted.

The Plan Will Not Close - Who It Affects

It is important to remind that the plan enables those lacking financial resources to install a 4.2kW photovoltaic system without any upfront payment. The system will be repaid through bi-monthly installments of €150.

Eligible citizens are those who install a photovoltaic system up to 4.16 kW, whose total annual household energy consumption in the previous year did not exceed 6,000 kWh.

The initial design intended to benefit 6,000 households, as the installation cost was capped at €5,000 (reduced to €4,000 with a state subsidy of €1,000). The budget for the scheme totals €30 million. However, according to the Energy Minister, the plan will continue and will not close once the 6,000 mark is reached.
