New Maritime Surveillance Station Enhances Safety in Zygi Port Area

To enhance safe navigation in the Zygi Port Area, which now hosts nearly all of Cyprus's energy infrastructure, the Cyprus Ports Authority has decided to establish a Maritime Surveillance Station. The station is expected to be operational within the first quarter of 2025.

According to a statement from the Authority, "As part of this decision, representatives from the Port Regulation Directorate visited the ICS Technologies factory from May 29 to May 31, where comprehensive Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the equipment were conducted prior to delivery and installation."

The Cyprus Ports Authority stated, "The ICS Straitmaster radar, specifically designed for Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) and port surveillance, offers unparalleled resolution and features an innovative design, making it ideal for the complex demands of traffic monitoring and management."

It added that "this installation marks a significant advancement in maritime technology for the Cyprus Ports Authority and the Republic of Cyprus."
