EuroCC2 Hosts Industry Day to Boost Tech Collaborations in Cyprus

Event Highlights AI and HPC Applications for Cypriot Businesses

The pan-European research program EuroCC2, through the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of the Cyprus Institute (CyI), which serves as the National High-Performance Computing Center, recently organized the second event in the "Industry Day" series.

The "Industry Day" event, following up on the January session, took place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, showcasing the potential of technological collaboration between Cypriot companies and researchers.

The "Industry Day" initiative aims to strengthen the connection between Cypriot businesses specializing in technological innovations and CaSToRC researchers. The event highlights the Center's commitment to promoting advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, High-Performance Computing (HPC), Computational Modeling, and Data Analysis in the operational workflows of Cypriot businesses.

The President of CyI, Professor Stavros Malas, pointed out that part of the Institute's mission is not only conducting research and training researchers but also assisting the ecosystem and private sector to drive innovation.

Dr. Dimitris Skourides, Chief Scientist and Director of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), emphasized that this event bridges the gap between research organizations and industry, showcasing the work done and emerging technologies among businesses.

During the event, representatives from the German Oncology Clinic presented a "success story," describing their collaboration with CaSToRC researchers in machine learning and data analysis for health-related projects.

Customized presentations on advanced computational technologies and their industrial applications were also delivered by CaSToRC research staff, led by the Center's Director, Professor Constantinos Dovrolis. The event concluded with presentations from company representatives.

Participating companies included the German Oncology Center, RetailZoom, Suite5, Hello Radius, Moving Doors, Electi, Malloc, Efevre Tech, Vet ex machina, Novatex Solutions Ltd, ECECT, Intellar, and Vettaky.
