Sophia Hadjipanteli Attends Zandra Rhodes' Book Launch
Renowned Greek Cypriot model Sophia Hadjipanteli attended an event celebrating the launch of Zandra Rhodes' new book "ICONIC: My Life in Fashion in 50 Objects" at The Dorchester in Mayfair, London, on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Sophia's dress, designed by Cypriot designer Michalis Pantelidis, features a collage of photographs of doors from old Nicosia and is made entirely from recyclable plastic bottles.
Pantelidis aims to celebrate the artisanal craftsmanship that adorns the doors of old Nicosia with his "Artisanal Entrances" collection. This specific blue door is decorated with hand-bent iron forming beautiful patterns. The collection was showcased in Cyprus on June 1, 2024, during a fashion show in Limassol as part of the Cyprus Fashion Film Festival, organized by the Fashion Heritage Network Cyprus and Cult Experiences.
Michalis Pantelidis, a Cypriot textile designer, graduated from the University of Bristol in 2022. He was nominated by his university for both the "Fashion Innovation Award" and "The Considered Fashion Award" at Graduate Fashion Week in the United Kingdom. Michalis interned at the ateliers of Iris Van Herpen and Ronald Van Der Kemp in Amsterdam.
He also collaborated with Dutch artists, honing his skills in photography, digital editing, and intricate craftsmanship. In 2021, he launched his brand, which combines his passion for textiles, photography, and art. Additionally, he worked in Italy, designing and creating handmade fabrics for luxury fashion houses such as Gucci, Prada, and D&G.
