A preparatory meeting was held this morning at the Presidential Palace, chaired by President Nikos Christodoulides, with the participation of the Legal Service, relevant ministers, and state authorities, ahead of Tuesday's meeting on the Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection.

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis told the Cyprus News Agency that the meeting was aimed at coordinating the involved parties ahead of the upcoming discussions regarding the electricity interconnection between Cyprus and Greece.

Last week, Mr. Letymbiotis announced that a meeting involving all stakeholders would take place in Cyprus on Tuesday to discuss the Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection.

In a written statement, he noted that "the meeting will include the Ministers of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Finance, and the Deputy Minister to the President representing the Republic of Cyprus, the Greek Minister of Energy, a representative from the European Commission, representatives from ADMIE, NEXANS, and the Legal Service of the Republic of Cyprus."

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also mentioned the Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection during his press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair yesterday. He noted that if the project's financial viability is ensured, it will proceed.

"I believe it is a very important project, especially for Cyprus, as it effectively breaks its energy isolation," Mr. Mitsotakis said when asked about the issue.

He added that the Greek Government is in negotiations with the Cypriot Government and regulatory authorities concerning the project's financial viability.

"I can assure you that if financial viability is secured, the project will happen. Any geopolitical risks will be overcome," he concluded.
