Israel Prioritizes Great Sea Interconnector Project
Eli Cohen Had a Phone Conversation With Energy Minister George Papanastasiou
The electrical interconnection of Cyprus with Greece and Israel is a "top priority" for Tel Aviv, stated Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Eli Cohen.
In a post on the platform “X,” Mr. Cohen mentioned that he had a conversation with his Cypriot counterpart, Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry George Papanastasiou.
"We emphasized the strong relationship and ongoing cooperation between Israel and Cyprus, and I highlighted the great importance of the ‘Great Sea Interconnector’ project for Israel," Mr. Cohen said in his post.
According to him, the project will connect Israel’s electrical grid with the EU through Cyprus and Greece, strengthening energy security in the region.
"This groundbreaking project is a top priority for Israel, as it enhances regional security, provides access to diversified energy markets, and strengthens Israel’s integration into the European energy network."
