EIB Vice President Visits Cyprus on Sept 20 for €125M Loan Agreements

The Purpose of the Visit Is to Sign Two Loan Agreements.

On September 20, a delegation from the European Investment Bank (EIB) led by its Vice President, Kyriakos Kakouris, will make an official visit to Cyprus. The purpose of the visit, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, is to sign two Loan Agreements.

Specifically, a Loan Agreement will be signed between the Republic of Cyprus and the European Investment Bank for €108 million to implement several projects at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in Limassol. These projects include the construction of student residences and sports facilities, the upgrade of various academic and research infrastructures, the construction of a photovoltaic park, and the implementation of various digitalization projects.

Additionally, a Loan Agreement will be signed between the Municipality of Paphos and the European Investment Bank for €17 million to build student residences and sports facilities for CUT in Paphos.

Among those attending the signing ceremony will be the Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, the Mayor of Paphos, Phedonas Phedonos, the Chairman of the CUT Council, Costas Galatariotis, and the Rector of CUT, Panayiotis Zafeiris.

The signing of the above Loan Agreements will take place at the Ministry of Finance on the morning of Friday, September 20.
