29 CUT Academics and Researchers Among the World’s Top Scientists
Cyprus University of Technology Academics Recognized in Stanford’s Global Citation Rankings
Twenty-nine academic researchers from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) have been included in the recently published and updated "Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators" lists, which feature data up to the end of 2023.
According to a statement by CUT, these lists recognize the world’s leading scientists and researchers across all scientific fields, including the top 2% in their respective subfields who have published at least five papers. The lists are compiled by a team led by Professor John P.A. Ioannides at Stanford University in the United States, using the Scopus database.
The included researchers were selected based on various objective criteria, such as the overall impact of their original scientific work as measured by citations, the impact factor of the journals in which their work was published, the number of first-author papers, monographs, and more.
These lists are updated annually and evaluate the performance of academics worldwide based on their research output and citation impact, classifying them into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields.
In the list of top scientists globally throughout their academic careers (based on the updated August 2024 rankings), 15 academic staff and researchers from CUT are included. Additionally, in the second list, which focuses exclusively on the year 2023, a total of 25 academic staff and researchers from CUT appear. In total, 29 members of CUT’s academic staff and researchers are recognized across both lists.
“CUT warmly congratulates its 29 academic members and researchers for this significant achievement, which once again reflects the high-quality and internationally impactful research produced at the university. This recognition affirms the excellence and rich research activity of CUT researchers, which is acknowledged and rewarded globally,” the statement concludes.
