Paphos Bans Scooters on Public Roads

The Only Exception Will Be for Approved Bike Lanes and Paths

The Municipality of Paphos has announced a decision to ban the use of personal mobility devices, specifically scooters, on public roads within the municipality. The only exception will be for approved bike lanes and paths, in accordance with the Law on the Regulation of Bicycle Traffic and Other Personal Mobility Devices.

According to the Municipality of Paphos, this decision was made by the full Municipal Council on October 7, 2024, with the aim of reducing risks and enhancing safety within the city of Paphos.

The announcement states that drivers of personal mobility scooters found violating this ban will be reported by the Traffic Police, who are responsible for enforcing these new regulations in public areas. Additionally, scooters left unattended on any road or sidewalk will be confiscated by the Municipality of Paphos, and the owners will face further penalties and procedures to reclaim their devices.

The Municipality of Paphos urges its residents to comply with the Municipal Council's decision and to only use areas explicitly permitted by law. In doing so, citizens will help contribute to the safety of our city's roads, the announcement concludes.
