This Cypriot City Named Top European Destination for Seniors
New Study Reveals How Senior Tourists Are Driving Off-Season Travel Trends Across Europe
As Europe’s population ages, tourism trends are shifting — and older travellers are now shaping the off-season travel scene. TUI Musement, the experiences division of travel giant TUI, has analyzed thousands of reviews to identify the most-loved European destinations among senior tourists, aged 65 and over. Topping the list is Larnaca, Cyprus.
The coastal city scored an impressive average rating of 8.76, praised for its blend of cultural heritage, scenic promenades, and easy access to nature. Excursions to the Troodos Mountains and visits to traditional villages like Lefkara were particularly well-received.
The study highlights how baby boomers, with more free time and financial stability, are increasingly travelling outside peak seasons. This trend not only benefits local economies but also helps tackle the tourism sector’s seasonality challenges.
Other top destinations in the ranking include Skiathos and Kefalonia in Greece, Madeira in Portugal, Sorrento in Italy, and La Palma and Menorca in Spain — all celebrated for their relaxed pace, cultural richness, and natural beauty.
