Bank Association and JA Cyprus Bring Financial Literacy Program to High School Students for Sixth Year

Empowering Students with Essential Financial Skills for Today’s Economy

For the sixth consecutive year, the Cyprus Bank Association, in collaboration with the educational organization JA Cyprus, is implementing the financial literacy program “Economics for Success” for third-year high school students.

According to an announcement by the Association, this year’s program will reach 21 high schools, involving a total of 840 students. The initiative combines knowledge-sharing, interactive activities, and games to impart fundamental economic concepts covering money, borrowing, credit cards, consumer choices, and the labor market.

The program is made possible through the voluntary participation of 40 professionals from member banks of the Cyprus Bank Association. These professionals leave their offices to engage with students, implementing the “Economics for Success” curriculum in coordination with school educators. This program is approved and endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth.

The Cyprus Bank Association also welcomes the recent integration of a Financial Education course into the high school curriculum.

"It is our longstanding position that financial knowledge is an essential asset for students of all levels, especially in today’s complex world shaped by digital advancements, technology, and unlimited information access," the Association states.

Advanced economies and societies worldwide, it adds, invest in financial education with a range of initiatives for citizens of all ages. Consequently, Cyprus should also enrich its financial literacy programs, offering resources not only to children and youth but also to adults.
